Unique exibition of oriental carpets and chateaus in the Czech Republic on Karlstejn

Karlstejn Castle

Join us for an outstanding exhibition of oriental carpets from castles and chateaus in the Czech Republic. The unique exibition takes place currently on Karlstejn.

It is for the first time, that so unique rugs coming from all corners of the Orient are presented together in one spot. You can see carpets originating from 16th to 19th century.

All the carpets in the inventory of the National Heritage Institute were inspected and evaluated to be exhibited and appreciated. They were lent during May 2014 from various Czech castles and chateaus, transported to Karlstejn and stored in the attic of the famous Imperial Palace.
One of the most valuable carpets was placed in the rarest site of the castle, in the chapel of Holy Cross. It is a monumental Cintamani from 16th century, sized 2.8 x 4 m, permanently exhibited in the Chateau Hluboká.

This special exhibition lasts just until the end of September.
