The Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague

Municipal house

The Museum of Decorative Arts offers possibility to see objects from the museum’s archives.

Extensive reconstruction has been taking place in the main building of the Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague for some time now. However, it will be possible to see there the permanent exhibition until the end of 2014 (with the exception of one of the halls, which will be closed from October), as well as many other temporary exhibitions.

The museum will be closed from January 2015 and the deadline for completion of reconstruction will be September 2016.

Some objects of the exhibition from the collections of the Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague will be shown in the Municipal House until the end of the year. Fortunately, the Municipal House is itself a great gem of Art Nouveau architecture and visitors will be able to see the exhibitions alongside early 1900 s´ motifs. The long-term exhibition runs until 31 December 2015. The exhibition presents art and craft quality Art Nouveau production, from jewellery, clothing through advertising, wallpaper, furniture to toys and everyday objects.

Visitors will be able to see in addition to well-known exhibits, objects never shown before on display, because they had been most of the time hidden in the museum's archives.
